ICR - RECENT PROJECTS

A special of ICR is the investigation of complex materials behaviours in thermomechanical fatigue testing. The SEM picture shows the irreversible chemical transport in 50 µm Ag wires in physical contacts subjected to electrical DC current flow with high current density in the course of simultaneous mechanical vibration.

Non-destructive measurement and interpretation of polymer structures
  • Investigation of ageing effects in canvas weavings in cultural heritage objects
(the recently finalized project ZerMatt is partially publicly funded,  DBU no. 35466/01-45;  ICR cooperates continuously with Museen der Stadt Erfurt)
Complex-gas measurement
  • Innovative control of anaerobic biogas digester with use of a set
       of semiconductor gas sensors

(the project is part of the publicly funded OptiMand, BMBF no. 03KB115C,
in cooperation with the partners  Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum
and S+B Service und Betrieb GmbH; finished in 2019)
Laser reflow soldering
  • Physics of the <100 ms melting and solidification kinetics with use
       of pulsed laser source
Earlier projects
  • Investigation of wear mechanisms of polymers with prognostics of residual
       lifetime of ropes
     (
as a part of a joint project with research and with
       industrial partners)
  • Innovative electronic textile structures (specific research projects in ICR)
  • Failure analysis in electronic hybrid structures and Metallization on poymer
      foil substrates
(both projects APIS, and FlexNoLead, carried out  in cooperation
with partners, have been funded by the European Research Programmes)
