The interpretation of the ageing experiments requires certain model calculations to obtain the relevant physical reliability parameters. In particular the extraplation of irreversible drift kinetics is necessary for reliabiity extrapolation on a physical basis. The projection in the diagram outlines the squareroot-of-time kinetics of chemical diffusion and the power-law kinetics of plastic creep in metal polycrystals. When both ridges join at the top of the probability diagram a failure event can be predicted for the considered sample.

Recent investigation
Actually the family of copula functions is investigated as an approach for the integration of multivariate sensor functions. The application is an integrated ageing concept for complex reaction kinetics with different failure modes. It is of interest to estimate the probability density functions for the respective 1st passage time when the system reaches a critical state.
Several models are experienced with exemplary software applications for
  • Crack extension in brittle materials
  • Mechanical shock extension in viscoelastic networks
  • Resonance phenomena in certain non-linear vibrating systems
  • Plastic creep of viscoelastic materials polycrystalline metals and of polymer fibres
  • A framework of the 1-dimensional Fokker-Planck equation for probability density functions
  • Graph constructions of braided yarns, ropes, and monolayer weavings
